Spring is almost here! It’s time to bust out the warmer clothes! Yippee!

But that doesn’t mean you have to put your needles away! Maybe just some of the heavy wool...but definitely not your knitting!

It’s so wonderful how versatile knitting is! You can wear it year round and basically with any attire!

I’ve put together a Wear This or Make That? For trends in spring fashion for knitwear.

Below you will find trending spring fashion on five different occasions to showcase how knits are seen everywhere today! Then I’ve rounded up some knit patterns if you’re interested in making your own version!

Wear to Work

Anthropologie's Merian Cowl Neck Top

Anthropologie is my go-to place for trendy style! This Cowl Neck Top is perfect for early spring. Pair this some wide leg pants and cute sandals are you are set for work!

For the "Make That" option, check out this amazing sleeveless turtleneck sweater. Added bonus, you don't have to knit any sleeves! (I call them the black hole of knitting, and I almost never get them the same length! Ugh!)

Anthropologie's Ellington Twist Poncho

This poncho by Anthropologie is absolutely gorgeous! It pairs perfectly with a light camisole underneath and some skinny jeans! Throw on some booties and a silk scarf or some super cute hoop earrings are you are ready for anything! You are ready for the weekend.

Now if you're like me and you'd rather make your knits than buy them, this is the pattern for you! Andrea Mowry is one of my favorite designers right now. Everything she designs has an elegant simplicity to it, letting the yarn be the showcase! I just love it! This is the perfect weekend sweater and one you would probably end up wearing all the time. It's a great one to just tag along wherever you go.

Date Night

Free People Dreamland Straw Clutch

Straw clutches like this one and crochet bags are a hot ticket item right now. Pair this with jeans, an off the shoulder top, heels and some dangly earrings and you are ready for a night on the town!

Date night is the perfect time to show off your knitted accessories! This knit handbag is perfect for a night on the town. Just big enough to hold the essentials, but not too big it's bulky! Bonus: It's also a free pattern by Patons!

Anthropologie - Brittany Hooded Cardigan

When I think loungewear, I automatically think leggings, tee, and flip-flops. Throw on a long cardigan and you good to go and totally comfy for all the day brings. Now for some real talk...this is basically my everyday outfit! LuLaRoe for life!

That being said, my LuLaRoe leggings would look A-MAZING with this Anthropologie cardigan! And I kinda want it!

But THEN, I found THIS tunic sweater and basically, the yarn is in the mail now! :-) I'll probably have to make two so I can wear one while I'm cleaning the other, it's that cute! I cannot wait to get started on this pattern!

Athleta Sunlover UPF Tank

This split back tank with yoga pants and sneakers are a fantastic way to keep cool while working out. I love how it looks like a normal tee from the front, with a surprise element in the back.

Now I'm not sure I would recommend wearing this top to gym or running, but I was able to find almost the top in a knitted version! The pattern for this split back top suggests using silk or linen/flax type fiber. This will give the garment a very cool and drapey feel.

Whether you are looking for something to wear to work or around the house this spring, I hope this inspires you to keep knitting and maybe even try something out of your comfort zone! If you do try one of these patterns I'd love to hear about it, email me pictures at hello@thecarpoolknitter.com
