Quick & Easy Baby Headband

Hey All! I’m so excited about today. I finally get to debut a little something I’ve been working on behind the scenes! As most of you know, I’m a busy new momma that thrives on instant gratification. I’m dedicated to developing quick and easy knit patterns that you can take anywhere. I’m so excited to share the latest pattern with you. This quick and easy baby headband will have everyone oohing and ahhing over your little one. Bonus: It’s also a great option for a last minute awesome gift!

  • Sock Yarn (I used Premier Yarns Wool-Free Sock in Vegas Lights, but any stretchy sock yarn will do)

  • Needles: Size US 3 (3.25mm) Note: you will need 3 needles

  • Tapestry Needle

  • Scrap Yarn

Measure the size of your baby’s head, then subtract 1 ½ inch. (Ex. Head circumference is 16 inches – 1 ½ inch = 14 ½ inches) This is the total length of your headband.

If you are making this as a gift here are some standard sizes:

  • Preemie 12”

  • Baby 14”

  • Toddler 16”

  • Child 18”

Provisional Cast On 20 stitches with scrap yarn. (I used this crochet cast-on method by Purl Soho)

Row 1: Pick-up and knit 20 stitches.

Row 2: Slip 1, knit to end.

Repeat row 2 until you reach your desired length.

Loosely tie a knot in the middle of your band. NOTE: This will shorten you strip significantly, continuing in Garter Stitch slipping the first stitch until you’ve reached your desired length.

Return cast on stitches to your needle. Three needle bind off both ends together be careful not to twist!

That’s it! I can’t wait to see pics of all your little ones with their adorable headbands. Please post pictures on my Facebook page. I’d love to see them. I hope you enjoy making this little headband for your little ones as much as I have.
